Don’t Silence Shevchenko Within

“Do not silence Shevchenko within yourself” – a cinema-theatrical installation held in honour of the 209th anniversary of the outstanding Ukrainian artist Taras Shevchenko at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, London.

“Despite all the events of the turbulent year 2014 that engulfed Ukraine, the figure of Shevchenko remains untouched and eternally sacred. ‘Do Not Keep Silent About Shevchenko Inside You…’ – these lines by the renowned Ukrainian poet Pavlo Hirnyk brought Volodymyr Smotrytel onto the stage not only as an actor and director of the ‘Kut’ mono-theater but also as a concerned citizen and patriot.”
