Slovospiv

Play by Volodymyr Smotrytel. Based on the poems of Yosyp Osetsky. Sung poetry.

Directed by Volodymyr Smotrytel.
Duration of the performance: 50 minutes.
Premiered in 2004.

The main character of the mono-performance “Slovospiv” is Volodymyr Smotrytel himself. Through poetry, his own music, and his own performance, he guides the audience into the wondrous world of human emotions. It’s a unique mantra-meditation that allows one to peacefully and quietly delve into the depths of the human soul, experiencing all the emotions.

The great value of this work lies in its lack of a conventional plot development: introduction, events, progression, and conclusion. The entire dramaturgy is carried within the sung poetry.
